The Week That Was
It started in a waiting room and ended at a kitchen table with three columns drawn on a page. Monday, the scan came back and told me I had been wrong all week. The rebuilt ACL held. It was the meniscus that asked for the timeout, while the team ran a Spartan Beast two thousand miles away. Wednesday, I killed an episode and replaced it with the Dreamline, the exercise that sends you the actual invoice for the life you say you want. Friday, it came down to six in the morning on a Tuesday, a stiff knee, a quiet house, and the snooze button that is undefeated in an argument. A map, a dream, and the ground you actually have to stand on.
The Question Behind the Episodes
One question ran under all three. Are you building a business that serves your life, or a life that serves your business? Almost everyone answers the first one out loud and lives the second one by accident. The map, the invoice, and the Tuesday alarm are all just different ways of catching which one you are actually doing.
Three Things Worth Holding
One. The ground gets a vote. The plan is a drawing and your body is the terrain, and when they disagree, the builder fixes the drawing instead of blaming the ground.
Two. Build the invoice, not just the scoreboard. Havings are easy. The Being column is the real product, and the monthly cost of that life is almost always smaller than the number you have been grinding for.
Three. Tuesday is the test. Monday is theater. The whole thing is decided in the quiet, unwitnessed moment when nobody would ever know if you folded.
The Reset
Pull up your Q3 plan and look at it honestly. Is there a Being goal in there and a Doing goal in there, or is the whole thing just Having dressed up in a spreadsheet? If every line is a number you can bank, you are building a scoreboard, not a life. Add the two columns that are missing.
One Thing to Try
Run the Dreamline for one category this week. Just one. Three columns, Having, Being, Doing, and then the number: the real monthly cost of the next version of your life. You will probably be surprised how reachable it is. That surprise is the point.
See you Monday.
